What kind of companies do you invest in?
We invest in BC-based technology companies that are EBC eligible.
We invest in ventures that have validated product market fit, a scalable and profitable business model, a strong team that can execute and adapt, proof of traction, and a route to an attractive exit.
Can anyone invest in E-Fund?
You need to be an accredited investor to invest in E-Fund. In order to benefit from the 30% EBC/VCC tax credit you need to be a British Columbia resident.
Do you have to be a BC resident to invest in E-Fund?
We welcome investors from around the world. In fact international investors invest in E-Fund to increase their deal flow, get into deals with attractive valuations and because they know we do thorough due diligence and active post investment management.
How can I make an investment in E-Fund?
To make an investment in E-Fund, simply send us an email and we’ll get back to you with an investment checklist, the official paperwork, and we’ll be happy to answer questions you may have.
What is the minimum investment for E-Fund?
Our minimum initial investment is $10,000. Investments into E-Fund to date have ranged from $10,000 to $100,000. Annual investments of up to $400,000 are eligible for a 30% VCC tax credit of up to $120,000 per year per investor.
How do I get the 30% VCC Tax credit?
We send you an investment certificate as proof of your investment that can use to claim your tax credit. We recommend that you invest in November / December to apply your credit in the current tax year filing. If tax credits run out, you will receive them the following year.
Can I put E-Fund in my RRSP or TFSA?
Yes, subject to the requirements of your RRSP and/or TSFA trustee.
What are the costs of investing in E-Fund ?
There are no costs for the investor. Legal, administrative and marketing expenses are incurred directly in the fund and are reported to all shareholders on an annual basis.
What happens when a company exits?
E-Fund pays out your share of the gains, net of costs, fees and taxes and we send you a cheque or money transfer.
How do I get my money out of E-Fund?
Your E-Fund investment pays out gains till the last company in the fund has exited. You may cash or re-invest these gains. As a condition of the VCC tax credit your base capital needs to stay invested for 5 years. Your investment in E-Fund can be held in joint name or in trust. It can not be traded.
How can I be involved with E-Fund?
You can just invest and let us do the work, or you can be actively involved in the sourcing, screening, due-diligence and post investment management. As an E-Fund investor you will get access to the E-Fund Investor zone where you can find more information on our portfolio companies. If you want to be involved in pre and post investment management, just let us know.
