Assess if eFund is a good fit

We Invest In

Early stage BC-based technology companies in IT, Cleantech and Life Sciences.

Companies must be registered as an Eligible Business Corporation (EBC).

Criteria We Consider

Our investors need to be interested in the opportunity.

When it comes to your business, we want to see a strong team that can execute and adapt, a scalable and profitable business model, and a route to an attractive exit.

We Provide Value

Our Due Diligence process is pro-active. We also can lead and help syndicate investments.

We provide Post-Investment Management (PIM) support and mentoring, while giving access to our networks.

Amount We Invest

eFund typically makes a first investment of $100,000 CAD with potential for follow-on investment.

We syndicate deals and share due diligence findings with partner angel and other investors who have expressed interest to co-invest.

Ready to pitch?

We scout for companies at local angel investor group meetings, accelerators, and other pitch venues. You may also approach us directly, however warm introductions are preferred.

Upon identifying a company of interest, and if we see broader interest and alignment with our investment criteria, a due diligence process is started, or we will monitor the company until we believe the company is ready for investment.

Reach out to our partner angel investor groups if you believe you are ready to pitch for angel investors:

Due Diligence

We’ll consider doing our due diligence when companies have demonstrated product-market fit and show signs of market traction such as product trials or revenue.

  • We would like to see the following:

    • Proprietary technology or other strong barriers to entry

    • Demonstrated product/market fit with a compelling market opportunity

    • Well-articulated strategy for capturing and defending a significant market share

    • Product traction and/or strong progress when still developing developing technology

    • Strong management team

    • Exit strategy for investors

  • Interested eFund investors who have expertise in your field of business form a Due Diligence Team (DD Team).

There is a process of information collection, interviews and analysis of the strengths and opportunities of your team, the business opportunity and the progress you have made and the route to a possible exit.

The DD Team writes an internal Due Diligence Report that discusses the key areas of your business. Based upon their analysis, the DD Team decides whether to make an investment recommendation to the eFund board or monitor the company until they determine when there is good alignment with the eFund portfolio strategy

  • Ensure you have the following ready:

    • Slidedeck

    • Executive Summary or Short Business Plan
